Barely two weeks after a combined Senate Committees on Police Affairs and National Intelligence/Security paid a one day visit/hearing on the mystery dead bodies that surfaced on the Ezu River in Amansea, Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra state, Dr Chris Ngige (Anambra Central), yesterday returned to the location with the Police Affairs committee again.

This time they were received by all the traditional rulers from the council area led by Uthoko n?Eze Igwe Alex Nwokedi of Achalla who met with the committee behind closed doors for more than two hours.

The meeting which took place at the palace of Igwe Kenneth Okonkwo of Amansea followed immediately with another closed door session with the Town Union executives and Council officials from the Omamballa clan.

The chairman of the Senate team, Paulinus Igwe Nwagu told the large audience who had assembled to receive and hear from them to be open and willingly assist them with any information. He also appealed to journalists to help them with useful information, but to eschew sensationalism. He also warned citizens and politicians in the state to avoid politicizing the unfortunate development.

Dr Ngige assured the state, especially people from the area that he would not rest until justice was done for the victims whose cause of death was still mysterious.

The committee later went to have audience with the Police Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) at Awkuzu, accompanied by the Police Commissioners of Anambra and his Enugu state counterpart on the matter.

About 50 mysterious and yet-to-be identified dead bodies surfaced on the Ezu River in the early morning of January 19, 2013.
