According to Lamudi, Algeria?s new building will overtake South Africa?s 223m Calton Centre (shopping and office centre) in Johannesburg which has been Africa?s tallest skyscraper for forty years.
The others that follows the list include, 173m Ponte City Apartments, also in Johannesburg, NECOM House in Lagos, Nigeria and the the PSPF Towers A and B unveiled last year in the capital Dar Es Salaam , in Tanzania.
The global property portal as it takes a closer look at the region?s current top 10 sky-high buildings puts South Africa on top of the list with seven out of the top 10 tallest towers located in the country. This it says might change as other countries on the continent are embracing high-rise life.

For instance, Two towers in Tanzania now feature on the continent?s top 10 tallest towers list: the PSPF Towers A and B. Also, the Hazina Trade Center currently under construction in Kenya?s capital, Nairobi is tipped to become the tallest building in East Africa and the third on the continent once completed 2016 and in Ethiopia, the 99-storey Chuanhui International Tower Addis Ababa when completed will measure 448m.

According to Lamudi, Africa has been slower to embrace supertall buildings than other regions, particularly Asia which is home to the majority of the world?s top skyscrapers. While the top 10 sky-high buildings in Africa would measure a total of 1.6km if stacked one on top of the other, Asia?s tallest buildings would reach more than 5km into the sky.
