With the highly political tension between the two main political parties, the NPP and NDC, particularly among the youth, the Chief of Kokrobite and Dzaasetse of the Ardenkpa Royal family of James Town, Nii Ayinsah Sasraku III has called on the youth in the country to refrain from any acts of violence that has the tendency of creating mayhem in the country after the delivery of the Supreme Court verdict on July 29.

Nii SasrakuNii Ayinsah Sasraku made call at a ceremony to climax this year?s annual Homowo festival.

He warned the youth not to allow themselves to be used by any politician as they will be the first people to receive the blunt of the mayhem should they engage in any acts of violence.

He said though they may belong to different political parties with different ideologies, they should respect and tolerate each other?s view no matter their ideological position.

He further cautioned parents to advice their children, especially the youth to channel their energies into useful ventures that will benefit their communities and the country as a whole.

The Homowo festival which is celebrated by the people of the Ga State is an annual anniversary to remind the people of a famine that occurred in their history and hoot at any such disaster that may bring hunger as they anticipate years of abundance of food and fish.

According to history, Nii Ansah Sasraku I, an ancestor of the Nii Ardenkpa Royal Family, one of the seven gates that constitutes the James town stool, migrated from Asebu/Moree in the Central Region, and settled in Abola in Accra where he married a daughter of the then chief of Accra and had six children, five males and one female with her.

The eldest son, Nii Ardenkpa was made the Dzaasetse of Ngleshie/Alata Traditional Area (James Town) because of his valor and was put in charge of the armory of the Traditional Area.

Traditionally, the Nii Ardenkpa royal family thus earned the Dzaasetse royal title.
