Davies Nkausu

Zambian international Davies Nkausu, who enjoyed a brief spell under Sir Alex Ferguson back in 2003, has only good things to say about the legendary Manchester United manager who compared him to Patrick Vieira.

Nkausu, who now plays for South African club, SuperSport United, spent two months in Manchester in which time he worked under the guidance of ?Fergie?.

?Back then I was 17 and obviously everyone knew who Ferguson was. So, for me, him coaching me and giving me words of encouragement and him comparing me to [Patrick] Vieira made me who I am today,? Nkausu says.

?That coming from him as a coach and giving me complements like that and telling me that you mustn?t let anyone let you down and you must keep doing what you doing, that made me what I am today.

?He gave me that belief that I can make it in football, so that was great and if I look back I regret not signing and staying at Old Trafford,? said the 2012 Africa Nations Cup winner.

?In my words, no one will replace Ferguson. No-one will ever be like Ferguson. I think Manchester United will struggle to find a coach like him,? added Nkausu.

The former University of Pretoria defender added that despite the fact that Ferguson?s successor, David Moyes is a good coach, he will never be able to replace Ferguson.

?He is a good coach, no doubt about that, but he can never replace Ferguson,? said Nkausu.

Ferguson retired after 26 years at the helm of the Red Devils earlier this week.
