One person was killed on Tuesday night when a grenade was blasted inside his house at Gahongore in the Burundian province of Bubanza, some 30 km west of capital Bujumbura, Burundi National Radio reported Wednesday.
The state-run radio reported that unidentified persons detonated the grenade through the window of the victim’s bedroom around midnight local time (22:00 GMT).
The report said the person, who was sleeping alone in the house, died on the spot.
According to the radio, motive behind the grenade attack is still being investigated.
The victim is said to be the representative, at Gahongoro village, of Imbonerakure – the youth league of the Burundian ruling party, the National Council for the Defense of Democracy- Forces for the Defense of Democracy (CNDD-FDD).
The victim’s neighbor has been arrested in connection with the grenade attack. Enditem
