There is a fire outbreak at the Surfline Data Center here in Accra which has disrupted network connectivity of Surfline users.
?Nobody was injured, but we do not know the extent of the damage at this time. Please bare with us as we assess the impact of this unfortunate incident and work to get the network back up to speed.We will continue to provide updates as we receive them. We appreciate your patience at this time,? the statement added. The company has subsequently sent text messages to its customers apologizing for the break in network connectivity. The messages read:
?We apologize for the current lack of network connectivity.?This is due to a technical issue on our network.?We are working to resolve this as soon as possible.?The current outage on the network is due to a fire at our data center.?Our team is working to resolve the issue.?We will keep you updated.?
Since the beginning of 2015, several fire outbreaks have been recorded nationwide. Notable amongst them is the fire which destroyed the Tema Central Medical stores, Melcom warehouse, Tamale Teaching Hospital and the Kokompe Market. Some shops in Ashiaman were also gutted by fire as well as some?domestic fires which have claimed about five lives including children. About 31 new vehicles were also burnt in Tema and fire also razed down?the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) warehouse at the Aflao sub-station in the Volta Region.
