The Justice Ishaq Bello-led Anambra state Governorship election Tribunal yesterday confirmed the Nov 16, 2013 election of Chief Willie Obiano as the duly elected governor of the state.

This has put a spanner in the spirited attempt by the candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (APC) in the November 16, 2013 election, Senator Chris Ngige; the Peoples Democratic Party?s(PDP) Comrade Tony Nwoye and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) factional aspirant, Dr. Chike Obidigbo, to unseat Obiano individually and collectively, at least for now.

The tribunal upheld Obiano?s victory, declaring him the validly elected Governor of Anambra State.

Hearing on the triple petitions commenced February 24, 2014 and concluded on May 14, 2014. It adopted the final written and oral addresses by the lead counsels from each of the parties involved in the litigation on May 23.

Parties to the petitions were then informed that a date for the final judgement would be communicated to them in due course.
