The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Hunger Project, ?sa Skogstr?m Feldt, held discussions with the Vice-President of Ghana, Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur here on Tuesday.

Feldt, who is in Ghana on a working visit, paid a courtesy call on the vice- president and discussed issues relating to food security and women?s empowerment, a release from the Presidency said.
Amissah-Arthur urged the international body to forge a greater collaboration with Ghana to ensure food security in the rural areas of the country.
He noted that one area the Hunger project could assist Ghana in attaining sustained food security was to empower rural women in food and agricultural production.
He also urged the Hunger Project to assist government in sanitation sensitization programs to help give meaning to the governments National Sanitation Day program.
Amissah-Arthur pledged government?s readiness to continue its collaboration with the New York-based organization to extend its operations in other regions of the country.
Feldt commended the government of Ghana on her MDGs achievement and how far it had collaborated with them.
Ghana has been adjudged one of the countries which have achieved a reduction in hunger and extreme forms of poverty under the Millennium Development Goals(MDGs).
The Hunger Project has been in Ghana since 1996, operating in areas such as education and capacity building, technical and economic empowerment, improved food production and community health, among others.
According to the CEO, the New York-based organization also seeks partnership from the Ghanaian government at all levels – from district to national.
The organization, which describes itself as an organization committed to the sustainable end of world hunger, operates in five of the 10 regions of the West African country. Enditem
