Be Real, Don’t Try And Copy Westerner, Ghanaians Youth Told – Satnam Singh Chatha

Canada based Music Producer and Founder of 5 Rivers Entertainment, Satnam Singh Chatha is advising youth in the music industry to be original and avoid copying the style of others especially Westerners.

“Be real, don’t try and copy…if America is doing this and England is doing that, Ghana do Ghana. Show us your beautiful food and people. Sitting here in Canada, these people are not going to show us the real beautiful Africa at it is,” the Songwriter added.

Satnam believes in the importance of playing musical instruments and also counsels musicians to learn how to play at least one instrument emphasizing that,” if you understand chords you will understand melody and song structure”.

According to the UK born Indian, it is important to always praise God and give back to the society after being successful.

Satnam Singh who was a guest on ?The Freeway Hotspot? on Accra based radio station X FM, disclosed in an? interview with Danny Warren and DJ Marvin (White) that his inspiration for establishing 5 Rivers Entertainment? is to promote” clean positive music with good messages”.

He articulates that the message contained in music is the most important and expressed how excited he feels about promoting good music devoid of negativity.

“If you listen to music from our record label you are never going to hear anything about disrespecting women, guns and drugs, disrespecting the elderly etc. I can’t afford anything that is bad or negative”.

Growing up amongst Jamaican Rastafarians, Satnam has a deep knowledge of reggae music and hails Bob Marley as a prophet sent from God to mankind.

Satnam Singh Chatha began his professional music career in 2006. He built 5 Rivers music label and studio and started work by releasing a reggae compilation titled “KingFish Riddim” which featured a lineup of international reggae artists such as Richie Spice, Glenn Washington, Richie Stevens and many more.

Whilst recording these big names he also made sure to include the local talent on this compilation.

In 2008 he released Volume 1 of what has now become the critically acclaimed Righteous Roots Reggae series which featured the living legend Dobby Dobson, The Informative History Man and other international acts.

Now he’s working on his next album and also two albums for The Informative History Man from Jamaica, works with Jah Mason & JahBeng and just recently completed an EP for Mandeep Sethi, a California hip hop artist.
