VOiCE in Community Empowerment, a Non- Governmental Organisation (NGO) has trained about 14 food vendors on how to practice food safety and proper conditions at their various chop bars and restaurants in the Nima Maamobi and its environs.food vendors

The program which gathered chop bars operators and food vendors from the community trained them on courses such as food safety, personal hygiene and good customer relationship.

The three day event was organized by Voice in Community Empowerment (VOiCE) in collaboration with Kanda Career Training Institute under the theme ?Empowering Women for Socio-economic Development? in Accra.

Participants, after the training were given certificates of completion in courses that will build their capacity on the dynamics of cooking and the needs to maintain a proper food menu that will attract customers.

The Executive Director, George Abagna told the Punch in an interview that the training program follows the recent cholera epidemic which highly striked Nima Maamobi recording high cases.

According to him, participants have been well-trained to position the beauty of the trade on the level that will not endanger the health of the people living in the communities. They shall maintain the standards to prevent any outbreak of diseases.

The Executive Director said over years VOiCE have, in collaboration with Millennium Cities Initiative (MCI) organized a community youth forum that brought many youth leaders within Nima-Maamobi community to brainstorm on the challenges and difficulties facing the youth and community at large.food vendors

According to him, they held the Annual Midwives? celebration with the Greater Accra Midwives Association with targeted girls, young and adult ladies in the community to educate them on maternal and reproductive health and family planning.

He added that during the Ramadan festival period, they with support from MCI organized an effective ?Pre-Ramadan? clean up exercise in collaboration with waste management company, zoolion and Nima-Maamobi Mothers? Club.

VOiCE is a non-political, non-religious and non-profit youth organisation (NGO) aimed at facilitating the implementation of socio-economic and developmental projects in the East Ayawaso Sub-metro area through concerted volunteerism from their capable and committed youth.
