Zambia FA (FAZ) insist they have the 2014 World Cup advantage over Ghana and are desperately seeking to meet their sports minister after describing their display against Lesotho in a 1-all draw as ?rubbish?.

FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya has made contact with sports minister Chishimba Kambwili following comments by the government official made scathing comments on the national team.

The shambolic 1-1 draw against Lesotho in Sunday?s World Cup qualifier in Maseru left the ex-African Champions of the backfoot as Ghana closed in with the 4-0 thumping of Sudan in Kumasi.

The result leaves the Black Stars just one point behind Zambia even though the Chipolopolo were awarded three free points from the boardroom after a protest against Sudan.

Despite the flagging fortunes of Zambia, FAZ spokesperson Erick Mwanza says they have the advantage over the Black Stars with two of their remaining three matches being played at home.

?It is also important to note that following the draw in Lesotho, Zambia has not lost the initiative and advantage of our qualification group,? Mwanza said.

?Therefore, necessary measures which include adequate preparations for the June qualifiers as well as re-emphasizing to the team and individual players the significance of the qualifiers and total commitment will be done.?

Mwanza urges stakeholders to unite and rally Chipolopolo?s campaign with three matches before September to conclude this round of qualifiers.

?Disappointing as the result was against Lesotho, we retain the advantage of not only being group leaders but having destiny in our own hands,? he said.

?We depend on our own matches and results to win Group D and qualify to the final play-off for a place at Brazil 2014,? the FAZ statement reads.

The outspoken sports minister Kambwili has also threatened to disband Chipolopolo, who only a year ago were crowned 2012 African champions for the first time, saying governments spends huge sums of money on football and demanded good results.

Sources at Football House and Government Complex have confirmed that a FAZ delegations led by Kalusha is scheduled to meet the minister this morning if he finds time for them.

Kalusha arrived from his residence in Johannesburg on Tuesday night in readiness to meet Kambwili in a bid to quell any amount of pressure that could be exerted on his executive and eventually the national team.

FAZ spokesperson Erick Mwanza issued a statement yesterday saying the body had heard and noted concerns from government regarding Chipolopolo in respect of the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 Qualifiers and in particular last Sunday?s draw in Lesotho.

?As custodians of the game in the country, situations of the national team are of greater concern to us. That is why in addressing the concerns as pointed out by the government and other stakeholders, we shall ensure that Chipolopolo amass maximum points in our two home games in June to ensure that we remain on course to qualify from the group,? Mwanza?s statement reads.
