Yvonne Okoro, Others For Pan African Award

Award-winning actress Yvonne Okoro has made it onto the nominees list of this year’s Nigeria Entertainment Award (NEA) which is scheduled take place via a grand red carpet ceremony in New York, United State of America, from August 31 to September 2.

The beautiful actress was nominated for Pan African Actress category of the NEA for her role in ‘Single Six’ from the stables of Venus Film.

She is competing with actresses Ama Abebrese- ‘Ties That Bind’, Juliet Ibrahim- ‘Crazy Scandal’, Kudzai Sevenzo- ‘Playing Warriors’, Jokate Mwegelo- ‘Chumo’ and Millicent Mahheido- ‘48’.

Ghana’s celebrated men Majid Michel, Van Vicker, Chris Attoh and John Dumelo also made into Pan African Actor category alongside Kevin Ndege Mamboleo and Edward Kagutuzi while Sarkodie was the only Ghanaian musician nominated for the Pan African Artiste of the Year.

Nominees for the 2012 Nigerian Entertainment Awards were officially announced at a nominees gala event on Friday, June 1 at the Federal Palace Hotel, in Lagos, surrounded by industry colleagues, entertainment executives, friends and well-wishers.

The event is the official kick-off to the Nigerian Entertainment Awards currently in its 7th year, held annually in New York City.

The awards are based entirely on fans votes, and so fans are encouraged to vote online and via SMS.

Online voting begins on August 1, while fans in Nigeria can vote via SMS now.

Yvonne is highly tipped for her category not just because she has an influential and great fan base but she has some great looks that complement a Pan African image alongside her great deliveries in movies.

Yvonne is currently one of the busiest and most sought-after Ghanaian actresses in Africa.

She is co-winner of the Best Actress Award at the 2010 Ghana Movie Awards and was African Movie Academy Awards nominee twice.

She was a few months ago honoured with a Distinguished Achievement Award at 2012 Nigeria Excellence Awards in Ghana chaired by His Excellency, Ambassador Musiliu Obanikoro, Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Ghana.

She was honoured at that ceremony for her great acting skills and contribution to the African movie industry.

Yvonne was one of the youngest award recipients in the same category as Iyiola Ayoade, CEO of Multiple Concepts Group, parent company of Charterhouse; Theo Akatugba of Point Blank Media Concept, and Silverbird Entertainment Ghana.

Chief Bashorun Dele Momodu was also one of the Lifetime Achievement Award recipients at the award.
