Yvonne Okoro ends UK tour

Star actress Yvonne Okoro returned home on Wednesday after a two-week holiday in the United Kingdom.

The actress, according to close sources, had a good time in the Queen’s land.

She is currently relaxing at her East Legon base in Accra, preparing for a trip to Nigeria for Sunday’s Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).

She is expected to leave Ghana today or tomorrow Saturday, April 21 for Lagos where the award ceremony will be taking place for the first time.

Yvonne was nominated for Best Actress In leading Role category for her role in Abdul Salam’s ‘Single Six’.

She is in the category with accomplished actresses Nse Ikpe Etim , Ama K. Abebrese, Rita Dominic, Uche Jombo,
Millicent Makheido and Kudzai Sevenzo-Nyarai.

Thousands of her fans are hoping she will make them proud. Prior to her trip to UK, she was honoured with a Distinguished Achievement Award at this year’s Nigeria Excellence Awards, chaired by His Excellency, Ambassador Musiliu Obanikoro, Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Ghana.

She was honoured alongside top Nigerian entertainment business tycoons as Iyiola Ayoade, CEO of Multiple Concepts Group, parent company of Charterhouse; Theo Akatugba of Point Blank Media Concept; and Silverbird Entertainment Ghana.

Famous personality Chief Bashorun Dele Momodu also picked a Lifetime Achievement Award at the event.

Yvonne was the youngest among the award recipients and she was honoured for her great acting skills and contribution to the African movie industry.

It was also to recognise her Nigerian spirit which was affecting lives positively across the African continent.
