yutong-zk6129h-09The Government is in discussion with transport operators in the country to explore the possibility of procuring new buses for their members.
Once delivered, the beneficiary individual and institution would now work to repay the cost of the buses but on flexible terms that could take years.
The Deputy Minister of Transport, Mrs Joyce Bawa Mortagri, disclosed this at the launch of a new model of Yutong buses by J.A. Plant Pool in Accra.
She explained that the proposed procurement of buses for public transport operators on credit was to help replace the rickety passenger buses on the roads while bringing comfort to public sector transport.
Mrs Mogtari congratulated Plant Pool on its immense contribution to the transport sector through the importation and servicing of Yutong buses over the years.
She further commended the partnership between J.A. Plant Pool and Yutong of China, describing it as a mark of friendliness through business.
The Managing Director of Plant Pool, Mr Lolu Akindele, said the new model was to augment the old stock that was already on sale.
He said he was hopeful that the introduction of the Executive Yutong would help address the various concerns and requests that road passenger companies had concerning buses used in their operations.
“This new bus has larger compartment for luggage, the seats are more comfortable and the fuel usage is very efficient too,” Mr Akindele said, adding that the company was ever willing to support buyers with after-sales services and products.
Executive Yutong
The launch of the new bus, the Executive Yutong, also marked the sixth anniversary of the company?s existence in the country.
It comes with new and enhanced features and is expected to provide extra comfort to passengers while complementing the various models Plant Pool already has on sale in the country.
J.A. Plant Pool which is a member of the Jospong Group of Companies started the importation of Yutong buses and their spare parts from China and subsequent retailing in the country in 2008 and has distributed over 1,190 of the buses since then.
