Youth Group demand withdrawal Of impeachment

As the statewide mass protest enters its sixth day, Coalition of Nasarawa Youth Progressive Initiative, Arewa Citizens Action for Change, Nasarawa state chapter and Arewa Development Foundation Nasarawa state chapter challenged members of the Nasarawa state House of Assembly to withdraw their impeachment threat or face recall by the people of Nasarawa State.

The declaration was contained in a press statement jointly signed by Barrister Umar Modibbo chairman, Nasarawa Youths Progressives Initiative, Akpason Collins of Arewa Citizens Action for Change Nasarawa state chapter and M.A Ibrahim Esq of Arewa Youths Development Foundation Nasarawa state chapter.

The joint bodies called on the lawmakers to take into cognizance the good work of the chief executive in three years and withdraw the impeachment notice and proceed to pass vote of confidence for the holistic approach adopted by the governor in providing the needed infrastructures hitherto denied the populace.

The statement read in part –

?The Youth condemn in totality the attitude, conduct and action of the ill-fated lawmakers, the position of the Assembly was not only ill-fated but also backed by personal and political thunderstorms that has over heated the polity. We are vehemently against the plot to sack Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura from office?.

?That the people of Nasarawa state are aware that no Governor in the history of our dear state has ever achieved what His Excellency  Governor Al-Makura  had achieved in less than three and half years?.

?We are leaving witnesses of the numerous projects executed by Governor Al-Makura which include

Provision of tarred roads in all Local Governments of the state

Building of qualitative classrooms and renovation of schools cut across all strata.

Declaration of free education in the state

Building of library across the state

Building and renovation of Government hospitals in the state and provision of hospital equipment

Salary increment of civil servants in the state

Increment of constituent?s allowance of the members of Nasarawa state House of Assembly

Provision of employments

Building of ultra-modern markets across the state

Launching of part of Karu International market and many more

Provision of adequate scholarship scheme to students of the state?

?We the electorate sent them to the Assembly to legislate on laws that has direct impact on the lives of the people as well bring about peace and development in our state, We don?t want to exploit our constitutional right but want to state that we are very much aware of our constitutional power of recalling any erring member or all the lawmakers for their inactions?.

Meanwhile, in a related development, the joint association of physically challenged has staged a peaceful protest over the action of the lawmakers, People living with disability who marched to the Government House  adviced the members to answer the clarion call of the people for peace to reign in the state.

The physically challenged were seen carrying placards with inscriptions ?4+4=8, while other are saying ?We want peace to reign in Nasarawa state,?Al-Makura remain the people?s Governor,?Al-Makura is working and the state is changing?
