Yet another damning UKBA report ? Bryant

( November 29, 2012, UK, Refugee News Network )-Chris Bryant MP, Labour?s Shadow Immigration Minister, said on the Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration?s report on UKBA:

?This is yet another damning report about UKBA under this Government. The report reveals the scandalous situation where legitimate students are being turned away from attending our universities, while students reported to UKBA by our institutions for potentially going missing are not being followed up. The massive 153,000 backlog of people who have potentially gone rogue emphasises that with Theresa May running the Home Office we are getting the worst of both worlds.

?Time and time again the Chief Inspector has found problems with UKBA. The blame for this lies squarely at Theresa May?s door for cutting 5,000 staff from UKBA.

?And the Chief Inspector notes an area where Labour has already raised concerns with Theresa May. Student visitor visas have fewer checks that full student visas, and are therefore ripe for exploitation by those looking to avoid tougher checks. Under Theresa May?s watch student visitor visas have increased by 25 per cent in just one year.

?This is yet another example of the shambles Theresa May is overseeing at the Home Office.?
