Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh?s desire to remain in office as Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ejisu/Juaben seems to have hit a snag.

A group of irate National Democratic Congress (NDC) members at Ejisu reportedly demonstrated against him on Tuesday morning.

The group, numbering about 40, blocked the main road to the assembly at Ejisu with car tyres, concrete blocks and metals.

The irate NDC faithful alleged that Yamoah Ponkoh had paid a bribe of GH?60,000 to the leadership of the NDC in Accra.

They insisted that Yamoah Ponkoh was counting on his generosity to retain his current post despite his appalling performance.

The angry NDC members announced plans to leave the party if the Presidency imposes Yamoah Ponkoh on them.

The presence of the demonstrators reportedly affected the activities of the assembly for the day, sources hinted.

The demonstrators, who sang war songs, prevented several workers of the assembly from effortlessly entering the premises.

Commenting on the issue on Fox FM, Yamoah Ponkoh said he spotted about 12 people in front of the assembly on Tuesday.

He denied claims that the people staged a protest against him.

Interestingly, Yamoah Ponkoh said they tried to barricade the road leading to the assembly with car tyres.

The Ejisu/Juaben MCE said the action of the people at the assembly was unlawful so he called the police to chase them away.

Yamoah Ponkoh flatly denied the allegations by the aggrieved party members.

He said he had performed creditably since assuming office.

Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports have it that Yamoah Ponkoh has cause for the arrest of two NDC executives at Ejisu.

The arrested persons were identified as Raphael Mensah and Gyan, who were said to be part of the demonstrators.

Sources said the two were picked by the police at the NDC party office on Tuesday afternoon.
