The Water Resource Commission, has impressed upon Journalists across the country to increase reportage on water preservation and conservation to sustain lives of Ghanaians.

It also encouraged journalists to collaborate with the Commission to use the media to educate citizens about the laws and regulations relating to water and its usage.

The Commission made the call at Koforidua when it organized a training workshop for journalists in the Eastern Region on Integrated Water Resource Management, Water Laws and Regulations, as well as Environmental Reporting.

Mrs Adwoa Darko, the Public Relations Officer of the Commission said, water was finite and that it could get finished in terms of quality.

Mrs Darko indicated that, water conservation is everyone?s business and it is the media that has the power to engender Ghanaians? to ensure that, the nation?s water bodies are safe.

Mrs Bernadette Araba Adjei, a Legal Officer at the Commission, urged the media to let Ghanaians appreciate the importance of protecting water bodies.

She alerted Ghanaians to endeavour to access the services of only licensed water well or borehole drillers, saying, it was criminal to use unlicensed drillers as well as use water without water usage permit.

Mrs Adjei entreated Municipal and District Assemblies to collaborate effectively with the Water Resource Commission to ensure that people do not build on water ways. GNA
