World Vision inaugurates CHP Services compound at Sabul

World Vision International (WV), a Christian Non-Governmental Organisation, has inaugurated a Community Based Health Planning Services (CHPS) compound for the people of Sabule, and surrounding communities in the Kintampo South District of Brong-Ahafo Region.

WV.jpg15732The facility, estimated at GH?82,000, is to serve about 2,500 people. It has residential and clinical facilities equipped with furniture, a rain water harvesting system, and a two-seater KVIP latrine.

Mr Charles Hubert, the National Director of WV, expressed optimism that the facility would contribute greatly to improving the wellbeing of the people, especially children, through improved access to quality health care.

In a speech, read for him, he said the WV had drilled additional 125 boreholes at

GH?2, 500,000 in the District; and provided assorted books with other teaching and learning materials, valued at GH?35,000 for some primary schools.

Currently, Mr Hubert explained that four schools in the District were piloting the Ghana Reads project of the WV through the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), to enhance reading outcomes of children.

He expressed appreciation for the partnership of the WV Ghana, the Kintampo South District Assembly and other stakeholders, such as the Ghana Health Service, Ghana Education Service, towards improving the lives of especially children and women in the area.

Dr Eric Acolatse, the Kintampo South District Director of Health, commended the WV for the tremendous contributions towards improving on the health status of the people and sanitation situation in the area.

Nana Yaw Dompo, the Chief of Sabule, and the acting President of the Mo Traditional Council, thanked the NGO for the facility and appealed to the District Health Directorate to post health workers to the area as soon as possible.

He observed that the population in the area was increasing and entreated the Health Directorate to consider elevating the facility into a health centre.
