World Vision Ghana has donated anti-malaria medicines to support the National Malaria Control Programme by the Ministry of Health.

The National Director of World Vision Ghana, Hubert Charles said the purpose for donating the anti-malaria medicines was to support the home-base care programme recently undertaken by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) to reduce malaria cases especially among children under five years.

However, the anti-malaria medicines will be administered to pregnant women and lactating mothers in the country.

According to the National Director, the anti-malaria medicine which contains Artesunate Amodiaquine tablets worth GHC32,075,21.

The Head of the Public Relations Unit of the Ministry of Health, Dan Osman noted malaria is causing severe havoc in this country.

Therefore, he is calling for all hands on deck to eliminate all major incidences leading to the causes of malaria in the country in order to save the lives of people especially in the rural communities.

Mr. Osman has urged individuals and philanthropist to assist the campaign against malaria.

Representative from the National Malaria Control Programme, James Frimpong said the fight against malaria thrives on partnership to achieve the Millenium Development Goals in the country.

According to him, the donation came on time at the time when his outfit has just began an initiative to fight against malaria at the household level.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health is expected to deliver the anti-malaria medicines to Ghana Health Service to be distributed across the country equitably.

However, the Ghana Health Service is expected to complete and return to World Vision a consignment Impact Report Form after distribution.
