She said Akosua Agyepong one of Ghana?s foremost female highlife artistes is one such person who must be encouraged and supported.
Mrs Amissah-Arthur was speaking when she graced a programme for a health walk and medical screening exercise as part of activities to celebrate 25 years of Akosua Agyepong?s achievement in the music industry.
The second lady who facilitated the health screening as her own way of supporting the musician, called on others to help appreciate the hard work of women.
Mrs Amissah-Arthur said Akosua Agyepongs marking 25 years in music with a commitment to promote high life music to international level was laudable.
The health walk which started from the La Trade Fair Centre attracted hundreds of fans of the artiste as well as young and old musicians who were there to support their colleague.
The health walk passed through the La township, Palm wine junction and back at the trade fair Centre where they also had an aerobics session.
Besides, a medical team, comprising volunteers and health professionals from the Legon
Hospital screened the public for various diseases. People who were found with some complications were referred to health facilities for attention.
Ms Akosua Agyepong, who has nine albums to her credit said highlife music, is her “thing”.
She said she has enjoyed every bit of her career.
She said the health walk and the medical screening were to commemorate a month long celebrations of her contribution to the Ghanaian music industry.
She said the programme would be climaxed with a grand concert on May 30, at the Accra International Conference Centre.
