The role of women in society has been recognized as one of the key factors to the development of every nation in the world, and as a result of this, the World Mothers Day has been instituted to appreciate this contribution.

In Ghana, women are noted for their critical role in the economic development of the country, even before it achieved independence in1957, and to celebrate this year?s World Mothers Day which falls on Sunday May 12, some religious leaders have commended this exemplary role played by the women, including the struggle for political independence.

In a joint message to commemorate this year?s celebration, the Gomoa Aboso Circuit Pastor of the African Faith Tabernacle Church, Pastor Addo Donkor and the Founder and leader of the African Peaceful Church at Gomoa Osamkrom all in the Central Region, Prophet Noah Edusei described women as people who possesses special qualities such as loving kindness, compassion and tenderness both in the home in society.

According to them, though some women do not have biological children of their own, yet these women have continued to exhibit these motherly qualities to other children in society.

They reiterated that for one to be called a true mother, one does not have to be somebody who has given birth alone, but any women who possesses these special qualities and extends it to other children and the society at large.

They however expressed regret why women nowadays have failed to exhibit these conducts even in their marriages, and blamed the situation on bad advice by friends.

They also attributed the situation to the bad advice that some parents, especially women give their daughters when ushering them into marriage, noting that the marriages of all such daughters with this ill advice does not last for long.

They therefore cautioned would-be mothers to learn to be submissive in their marriages and do away with any bad company that can corrupt their marriage and family.
