What we want from President Jonathan -Nigerian children

0

As Nigeria joins the rest of the world to mark Children’s Day celebration today, we bring you the dreams and aspirations of the many Nigerian children who spoke with Sunday Express, on what they want from President Goodluck Jonathan.

Blessing, Arefari Senior
Grammar School, SS1, (16)

I will like the government to improve on the educational sector of the country by providing the students with the needed facilities to aid us in the learning process. I will also want the government to repair and fix the roads which are fast becoming death traps for motorists, passengers and pedestrians alike. I will also want the government to improve on the health sector by providing the hospitals with modern equipment which will go a long way in ensuring a drastic reduction on the mortality rate in our country (Nigeria) which is always on the increase.

Kazeem, Ijesha Secondary
School, SS2, (15)

This Children’s Day to me will be very boring and dark because the government has not treated the children right. They could not even organise a party for the children to merry and be happy, so for me there is basically nothing to be happy about.

Judith, Central Senior
High School, SS1, (15)

I will love the government to improve on the overall well -being of the children, also to make sure that children are in school so as not to make or allow them lose focus and wander on the streets by hawking goods on the roads. I will also like the government to make our dear country (Nigeria) better for the children and make every child of this country proud of being a Nigerian.

Samuel, Central Senior
High School, JSS3, (17)

I expect the government to celebrate with the children by organising a funfair for both children and parents alike. This will bring about immeasurable joy not just for the children but can also extend to their homes. Also will like the government to come to my area in Ejigbo where I live to see how they can assist us to fix the roads, because the roads are in a total mess, so impassable and in a very bad shape and urgency needs to be applied in fixing up the dilapidated roads.

Tolani, Arefari Junior
Grammar School, JSS2 (15)

I will like the government to celebrate the Children’s Day in my school by providing the teachers’ the funds to prosecute and make the day a very memorable and eventful one. I will also like the government to improve on the area of transportation by providing us with free buses to our various schools. I will also want the government to hurry up in the area of roads construction going on in my area, because the construction is seriously causing a very big traffic on the roads, thereby making me always late to school. This to me is not a welcome development because I get punished every day at school. I will also like to use this medium to appeal to government to provide my school with computers so as to make us more computer literate. Government should also endeavour to pay the teachers their salaries, so as to make them more active, happy and more effective in the areas of impacting knowledge and moral values, this will make us better persons in the society we live.

Prince, Ajimoni Junior
Grammar School, JSS2, (14)

I will like the government to organise a very good party for the children on their celebration of today and also lavish them with gifts to make them happy and loved. I will also want the government to solve the challenge of electricity because for the past three months we have not had light in my area. If the PHCN workers’ salaries need to be reviewed and improved to make the workers more effective, then government should go ahead and implement that, so as to improve the electricity sector in our country (Nigeria).

Michael, Nursery 2, (4)

I want my parents to take me to the cinema and I want the government to make Nigeria better.

Moji, Primary 2, (7)
I want my parents to buy me a new school bag and take me to the beach and I will like the Government to settle the problem with Lagos State Doctors.

Rosemary, SS2, (14)
On Children’s Day, I want my parents to buy me novels and government should plan a recreational event for children.

Gloria, Primary 2, (5)

I want my parents to buy me shoes and the government should give children gifts today.

Blessing, Primary 4, (10)

I want them to buy me clothes and I want the government to provide gifts for children.

Nathaniel, JSS3, (15)

I want my parents to buy me a phone and I want the government to build good roads, for this will reduce accidents.

Victor, JSS2, (13)

I will be expecting a gift, it may be a bicycle but I want the government to improve the quality of our education.

Barry, SS2, (18)

I want my parents to buy me a bicycle and I want the government to make our schools to be conducive for learning.

Waris, JSS2, (15)

I want my parents to take me out on Children’s Day and the government should organise a special party for children.

Obioma, Primary 3, (8)

I want my parents to buy me clothes but it will be nice if the government can provide us with good roads.

David,  SS2, (16)

I want my parents to show me love, government should fulfill their promises and stop corruption and give us regular power supply.

Chuks, SS2, (17)

My parents should take me out to have fun and government should remember children. I know government abroad have children’s interest in mind when they make policies, because we children are the leaders of tomorrow.
