A three-man delegation from Kosmos Energy, led by its Corporate Affairs Manager, George Sarpong, last Thursday paid a courtesy call on management of Western Publications, publishers of DAILY GUIDE and other allied newspapers.

The visit was to allow members of the delegation to acquaint themselves with the operations of the leading private newspaper in Ghana and also afford reporters on the business desk an opportunity to gain more insight into oil and gas reporting.

Mr Sarpong said his team had noticed numerous blunders committed by news reporters in their reports on oil and gas issues, adding that reporters must be educated on such issues in order to get them to better understand the terminologies in the industry.

Fortune Alimi, Editor of DAILY GUIDE, in a remark, commended members of the delegation and assured them that media personnel were ready for more specialized reporting to convey their messages well to the public.

The discovery of oil in commercial quantities at the Jubilee Oilfield in 2007 was the company?s first major project and one of West Africa?s largest discoveries of the last two decades.

First production from the initial development phase was in late 2010.

The next phase of development, Phase 1A, is now underway with five wells currently on line.

Average production is approximately 104,000 barrels of oil per day, and Jubilee partners are working to enhance field performance.
