WeNEF gets GHC50,000 support

The Edusei Foundation has donated GH?50,000 seed money to set up the Western Nananom Education Fund (WeNEF).

Presenting the cheque, Kwabena Kwaw Boadu Edusei, a Director of the Foundation, said the foundation was committed to leading the development agenda of the people.

While commending Nana Professor Kobina Nketsia V for speeding up the processes and facilitating the formation of a Trust to manage the fund, he said education is key to the aspirations of the youth.

Nana Kwesi Agyemang IX, Vice President and paramount Chief of the Lower Dixcove Traditional Area, said the House was highly elated about the donation by the Edusei Foundation.

He said the WeNEF was particularly grateful to Dr. Kwame Bawuah-Edusei, who through hard work and philanthropy, had extended the support to the youth of the Western Region.

Nana Kwesi Agyemang IX gave the assurance that the House of Chiefs would ensure that the donation is fully utilized for the intended purpose.

Nana Professor Kobina Nketsia V, Paramount Chief of the Essikado Traditional Area, commended the Edusei Foundation?s decision to support the people of the Western Region, especially in areas of education and youth development.

He lauded the decision by the Foundation to assist in the setting up of a Trust, adding that it would be charged with managing all funds donated to WeNEF.

For his part, Awulae Agyefi Kwame II, Omanhene of Nsein Traditional Area, stated that with the seed money for WeNEF, the entire House of Chiefs would impress upon every traditional ruler in the region to make annual donations to sustain the fund.

He further gave the assurance that the Edusei Foundation would be efficiently managed to attract future donations from other donors.

Both parties expressed commitment to managing the resources with a result-oriented approach by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
