We Initiated Single Spine ? NPP

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has rubbished claims by the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) that it (NPP) intends to scrap the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) pay policy.

At a press briefing in Accra yesterday, Deputy Communications Director of NPP Perry Okudzeto exposed a lie contained in a radio advert being run by the NDC which claimed that the NPP would make the lives of Ghanaians miserable if it won the December 2012 elections.

The advert, which is currently being run on some local radio stations across the country, stated among other things that the NPP would increase Value Added Tax to 20% and freeze salaries of workers for two years.

For Perry, ?this is complete falsehood and a sign of desperation of a government which knows it has failed Ghana and has failed Ghanaians and is on its way out of office.?

He could not fathom why the ruling government would want to lie since SSSS pay policy was initiated by the Kufuor-led NPP administration.

?The New Patriotic Party wishes to assure Ghanaians that contrary to the lies and propaganda perpetrated by the NDC and its presidential candidate, that under an Akufo-Addo government, Ghanaians will finally get the relief they need from the suffering inflicted upon them by the disastrous NDC policies of the past four years,? he stated.

For its entire tenure in office, Perry noted, ?the NDC has broken every promise it made to Ghanaians, has worked for itself instead of working for you, and is now afraid of going into opposition?.

Among the several promises that the NDC had failed to deliver, he said, included the promise to make Ghanaians pay one-time premium for healthcare, reducing unemployment to the barest minimum and providing a ?Better Ghana?.

He said the NDC had only succeeded in doubling prices of basic goods which had squeezed family budgets to the extreme.

He noted, ?God-willing, the next NPP government will take office with a clear programme to transform Ghana?s economy, bringing our people out of poverty and into prosperity.?
