Voting With Legs, Not Fingers!!!

voting in Ghana_14About five year ago, I saw this extremely attractive bimbo who reminded me of the first day that I saw my father in law?s daughter.

We chatted awhile, and became mobile phone friends.??I ended up rendering legal service for her father who took advantage of my truly very casual relationship with his daughter to pretend that my service was pro bono.

About two weeks age I was in the office when she burst upon me ? you can imagine how I screamed, almost like the arrival of the prodigal son.

Where have you been?

?I went trying to seek greener pastures down South, and I have come home after three years.??Life there is bad, Captain.?

I listened quietly as she recounted her bitter experiences, concluding with a request that I should help her to get a visa to travel to U.K.

I kept quiet for a very long time.

Reader, it is a tragedy.

It appears that the craze among the youth of today is to just brace up and endure every difficulty and secure documents to travel outside our Motherland, to seek greener pastures.

There are very harrowing stories of would-be migrants enduring untold hardships just to leave in search of better fortune.

Some try to cross the desert, the Sahara, using unapproved routes, some dying in the process.

Some try to stowaway in cargo vessels or merchant ships, along the coast to Europe.??The other day it was reported that a certain woman and her two children hid in the cargo compartment of British Airway plane ? by the time they got to London extreme freezing conditions in the cargo compartment had led to their deaths.

It is terrible.

Almost on daily basis, reader, DAILY BASIS, charlatans and crooks load migrants on the shores of Libya into ramshackle canoes and try to jamppack across the Mediterranean sea to the Italian Island of Lampedusa which is the gateway to Europe.

It is so painful, always watching Euroneus, seeing dead bodies washed ashore by capsized boats, and the lean hungry sea sick looks of the migrants ? oh my God ? they send cold shivers down and spine.

About two hundred years ago at the peak of the slave trade our youths were forcibly manacled and sent overseas to work as slaves.

Today, voluntarily, our youths spit on what they see here, and endure terrible risks just to cross natural barriers and enter overseas, in search of better horizons.

Instead of staying here to vote in farcical elections rogged by power hungry incompetent leaders, our best brains, the hope and future of our heritage ? they vote with their feet, just leaving our shores for else where.

I think I reflect I ponder and I just cannot appreciate the precise confines and exact profile of the problem.

Reader, it is a FACT admitted by all scientists ? both political and physical ? that Africa is the most blessed land mass in the world.??The weather in the sky, the land itself, the sub-soil-what conceivable raw material do you need to develop that we didn?t have here?

If you like, leave Africa for idealists to ponder over, and just come home to Ghana ? here, in our motherland, what conceivable resource do we lack?

Yet, if we are so blessed and so much favoured, by ALMIGHTY GOD, then why are we so poor? Why are we in a state of mendicancy all the time.

Just what is wrong with us?

Ghanaian professionals are doing wonders in other parts of the world, in all the disciplines-medicine, law, physics, architecture, governance ? trust the Ghanaian to deliver.

If the quality of the humans walking the streets of Ghana is top grade, then why can?t we make Ghana a heaven place?

Why can?t we feed ourselves? Why must we import food? Why can?t we send electricity to every nook and corner of Ghana?

Reader just what is the problem?
