Voters cast their ballots in relaxed and calm atmosphere

 The atmosphere at many polling centres in the Ashanti Region has been generally calm and relaxed with voters? conducting themselves well.

Four-and-a-half hours into the exercise, no nasty incidence had occurred in any of the 47 constituencies.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mohammed Tanko, Regional Police Public Relations Officer, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that so far there had not been any security challenges.

Ashanti has a total voter population of 2,557,122.

As of 0800 hours when the GNA visited the Asonomaso primary school polling centre in Kwabre East, 33 out of the 835 registered voters had exercised their franchise.

At Adanwomase D/A JHS, 60 out of the 381 people had cast their ballot at 0830 hours.

Mr Philip Bimpong, Polling Officer (PO) at the Adanwomase R/C primary school, told the GNA that 84 people had voted at 0840 hours.

All the political party agents, except the People?s National Convention (PNC) and Convention People?s Party (CPP) were present at the centre.

At the Amape primary school, only the agent of the NPP was present.

 Mr Kwadwo Antwi, the Presiding Officer, confirmed to the GNA that 53 out of 401 people had cast their ballot at 0850hours.

At the Bonwire SHS centre in the Ejisu constituency, 108 out of the 1,125 registered voters had gone through as at 0855 hours, when the GNA got there.

Out of the 563 eligible voters at Bomfa the M/A JHS centre, 121 had voted at 0900 hours.

At the Asotwe Catholic JHS 51 out of 372 people had cast their votes at 0905 hours.
