Katharina Schlemper, a Technical Advisor of the German Development Cooperation, has appealed to the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) to consciously market and advertise the region?s attractions in view of competition from other regions for investor attention.

Ms Schlemper gave the advice at the launch of the ?New Regional Profile Handbook? in Ho.

The document titled ?Living and Investing in the Volta Region, Ghana 2012/2013 discovering the region?s potentials and investment Opportunities? seeks to showcase the region?s attractions and comparative advantages for investment.

It was compiled by the Regional Planning Co-ordinating Unit (RPCU) with technical and financial support from giz.

Ms Schlemper said though the document contains comprehensive information and data that every investor would look for, its usefulness would depend on how well and ambitiously it was marketed and advertised.

She said the document was one of the first such regional handbooks to be produced.

Mr Henry Ametefe, Caretaker Volta Regional Minister, appealed to the RPCU to engage with the media in marketing the contents of the document.

He said the level of poverty in the region could be brought down drastically through purposeful initiatives directed at harnessing its immense natural and human resources to create jobs.

Mr Christoph Afenyo, Regional Economic Planning Officer, said the Handbook would be updated every year and called  on Heads of Departments and other stakeholders to study the Handbook and offer suggestions and new pieces of information to enrich it.

He said the RPCU could be reached on www.voltaregiononline.com and by E-mail on: [email protected], [email protected].
