Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has charged members of the Ekumfi Circuit of the Methodist Church to close their ranks and unite for a common goal.

He said any group of people who are united for a common cause will be successful.

Mr Amissah-Arthur was speaking at the 60th Anniversary of the Restoration of the Ekumfi Circuit of the Methodists Church at Ekumfi-Atuam in the Central Region.

The celebration, which is on the theme: ?Let us rise and build? also serves as a home-coming to climax the 60 years of restoration of Circuit status.

Mr Amissah-Arthur also charged the new circuit leaders of the church in the area to provide strong leadership and ensure the progress of the church.

He pleaded with the members of the circuit to work with the new leaders, who have posted to the area to succeed and also bring development to the area.

?We must help Reverend Kweku Ackom to succeed as the pastor of the circuit so that he can bring development to the area? he said.

Mr Amissah-Arthur said the Methodist Church would be electing a new Presiding Bishop of the Church at Kumasi in August and asked members to pray to God to elect the right person to lead the church.

He donated an undisclosed amount to an Education Fund set up by the Ekumfi Circuit of the Methodist Church to cater for needy but brilliant students within the community.

RT. Reverend Dr John K. Buabeng-Odoom, Bishop of the Winneba Diocese of the Methodist church, charged members of the Ekumfi Methodist to come together and help build the church.

He urged members to avail themselves for God?s work, adding that, it does not matter whether they are educated or not, God can use them to make a difference in people?s lives.

RT. Rev. Buabeng-Odoom said the destiny of the country lies in the hands of Ghanaians, and that, ?if we can turn this destiny around then it will depend on all of us.?

He said Ghanaians must see the nation as their own and not blame everything on the President or the Vice President but what ?we intend to do for the nation to develop. GNA
