Upper West Poised to Implement Regional Development Strategy

The Upper West Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) has organized a one day workshop for stakeholders to validate the Regional Development Strategy in order to come out with the final operational document.

Speaking during the workshop, Dr, Ephraim Avea Nsoh, Upper West Regional Minister, stated that the validation workshop would provide the stakeholders the opportunity to critically examine all aspects of the document by way of adding and subtracting to make the document a concrete one.

He expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for sharing in his vision and showing high level of commitment towards the realization of the dream since June, 2013.

Dr. Nsoh stressed on the issue of sustainability as being critical to the broad success of the strategy.

Clara Dube, Chief of Field Office, UNICEF, Tamale, commended the Regional Minister for providing the leadership that saw the crafting of the development strategy which according to her was clearly aligned with Ghana vision 2020.

She said the strategy would serve as a guiding principle that would push them to focus on results and accountability.

Mr. Baba H. Osman, the Regional Economic Planning Officer said the project would concretely tell the exact development gaps that existed in the region and how those gaps could be addressed.

He said District Assemblies were expected to use the strategy as their source document in preparing their Medium Term Development Plans. (MTDPs). GNA
