wpid-Richard-Kingston-made-the-shocking-revelation-at-the-Synagogue-Church-in-Nigeria.jpgAfter losing his slot to Adam Kwaresey in 2011, many Ghanaians gave up the dream of seeing Richard ?Olele? Kingston back in the national setup.

His lack of playing time and inactiveness at club level in 2010 caused him to fall short of Ghana Football Association?s criteria of selecting active players only for national assignments.

To the surprise of many, Richard Kingston has been named in Kwesi Appiah?s 25 man squad scheduled to face Egypt at the Baba Yara sports stadium in Kumasi and should ?Olele? and Ghana make it to the 2014 World cup in Brazil next summer, he will become the first African goalkeeper to make a third consecutive World Cup appearance.

Despite this phenomenon, his mysterious return to the national fold seems to have erupted divergent views from several soccer loving fans in Ghana.

Most Ghanaian fans believe that ?Olele?s? inclusion in the 25 man squad was a wrong move-considering his 3 years absent and poor mannerisms and reflexes displayed by him during Ghana?s game against Uruguay at the Semi-Final of the 2010 Fifa World Cup.

In the 2010 semi-final game against Uruguay, Richard Kingston?s poor position in post caused Diego Forlan to score a cheap goal from a harmless free kick to level an early Muntari goal in the second half.

Had it not been for this error, Ghana would have become the first country on the African continent to make it to the Semi-Finals of the World Cup. This among other blunders has caused Ghanaians to lose trust in the 35 year old shot stopper.

Despite all these shortfalls, Olele?s seems to have found something going between him and the Ghana F. A. -he seems to have mother luck on his side each time the World Cup approaches.

This phenomenon tends to astound many Ghanaians. In 2006 when almost everyone had forgotten about his whereabouts, a certain Olele emerged out of nowhere to put up a solid display against Turkey in a Pre-World Cup game to ensure he displaces then number one Keeper Sammy Adjei as first choice keeper.

Again, in 2010 when Ghanaians had lost faith and called upon Goran Stevanovic to find a suitable replacement for him, his luck came to play again and saw ?Plavi? maintain him as national team coach.

Now in 2013, when Ghana seems to have a foot in Brazil, days before the announcement of the final squad by head coach Kwesi Appiah, Kwesi Nyantakyi surprised many Ghanaians by insisting that ??With Richard Kingson, you can go and sleep.

If he is in good form, he is the safest pair of hands in the country.?

These controversial statements make many including myself question the kind of luck ?Olele? keeps riding on each time a world cup berth approaches.

Also, after confessing she was the reason behind ?Olele?s? detriments, his wife would have to come out and clarify whether she has reversed the Charm she claimed to have invoked on our long standing shot stopper.

Long live Olele, Long live the Black Stars.
