Former Ghana right back Tony Baffoe has won the?Ghana Sports Fans Personality of the year Award at a?ceremony at the World Trade Centre in Accra.

Baffoe, president of the Professional Footballers?Association of Ghana (PFAG) came tops in an award?competition specially designed for sports fans who?voted for nominees in various categories via sms.

He was voted ahead of contestants ? Braimah?Kamoko (Bukom Banku) and young Olympian Martha?Bisa, and for his prize, he took home a G?Five smart?Mobile phone, a plaque, a certificate and a trophy.

Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan, who arrived at?the venue with a large entourage, picked the foreign?footballer of the year prize, while crowd puller Bukom?Banku was adjudged the best boxer of the year.

The fans voted juvenile Olympic gold medalist?Martha as the athlete of the year (Track and Field) ahead?of Solomon Afful and Janet Amponsah, while Kotoko?coach Mas Ud Didi Dramani retained the award he won?in the maiden edition last year.

Asante Kotoko central defender Abeiku Ainooson?beat Hearts of Oak?s Owusu Bembah, Augustine Okrah?(Bechem United) and Aseidu Attobrah (New Edubiase)?to the Ghana Premier League (GPL) player of the year?prize, with the sports discipline of the year going to athletics.

It was Ben Nunoo Mensah, president of Ghana?Weightlifting Federation who won the exemplary leadership?in sports development award after leading the federation?to record the highest medals in international?competition, while MC-clean Dzidzonyo was voted the?best athlete with disability.

Chairman of the Award?s Technical Committee Dr?Emmanuel Owusu Ansah and Guest Speaker Magnus?Rex Danquah, Executive Chairman of RICS Consult, in?separate words, described fans as major stakeholders in?the development of sports.

All the winners including the special awardees -?Adjin Tettey, Yaw Sekyi, Amarkai Amarteifio, coach Sellas?Tetteh and Ofori Asante ? took home a G?Five smart?phone, plaque and a certificate each.

The program received support from Databank,?Cheki.com.gh, TT Brothers, Joy Industries, Phanerosis?Travel and Tours, Star Property Management, Bel-Aqua?Mineral Water and G?Five Mobile Ghana.
