Tirupati Packages- For an ideal pilgrimage One of the most popular pilgrimage centres in the country, Tirupati is most famous for the richest temple of Venkateshwara Swamy dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara. Situated at the foothills of the Eastern Ghats in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The city of Tirupati is situated in the Chittoor district and is the largest city in the Rayalaseema region. Around 20 km north west of Tirupati in the Tirumala hills is the most famous temple of Venkateshwara Swamy here dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara. Visited by millions of pilgrims from all across the world, Tirupati is perhaps the busiest pilgrimage centre in the world. Although the city of Tirupati has several temples, this one is the most famous. It is believed that the Venkateshwara Swamy Temple here has been in existence since the 4th century and has been maintained by rulers belonging to the Pallava, Chola and Vijayanagara dynasties.

In fact it was during the Vijayanagara dynasty that the temple started receiving maximum contributions and today is the richest temple. The temple is also one of the few temples in South India that was able to ward off Muslim invaders in the 14th and 15th century. The Tirumala hills where the temple is situated is believed to be the second oldest rock formation in the world.

Apart from the temple of Tirupati, the city is also known for its grand fairs and festivals like the Gangamma Jatara that is held between May 8th and 15th at the Tataiah Gunta Gangamma temple. This festival has the most unusual customs where devotees throng the streets in disguises shouting out foul words, which they believe drives off evil forces. This ritual is then followed up with the devotees smearing themselves in sandalwood paste, with their heads covered in jasmine garlands and offer their prayers at the temple. Other important festivals celebrated here is the Brahmotsavam, Vijayanagar Festival and the Rayalaseema Food and Dance festival. Several Tirupati Packages offer tourists an opportunity to visit this destination during these festivals that gives tourists a chance to experience Tirupati in a new light. Availing a Tirupati Package takes care of the various formalities and rituals one is expected to follow in such religious places. According to some religious practice, prior to visiting the Venkateshwara Temple, pilgrims are expected to pay their respects at the Varahaswami Temple. Tirupati is also famous for the Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park, Padmavati temple, Govindaraja temple, Srinivasa Mangapuram and Silathoranam rock garden. Tirupati is closest to Renigunta airport which is connected to a few major cities like Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and few others. Tirupati also has a railway station which is well connected to most major cities in the country.
