Tigo Digital Change-makers competition winners announced

Telecommunication company, Tigo in partnership with international NGO, Reach for Change, today announced the two top winners of 2014 Digital Changemakers competition.
ABO_2350The two winners include Alice Mamaga Akosua Amoako & Solomon Avemegah; both final year students of the Ghana Telecom University and together they have developed an App that supports children suffering from Autism.
The Autism App which is available on google play store provides communication skills for Autistic children and also teaches caregivers how to support Autistic children.
Sheila Osei-Boakye, an educationist on the other hand has digitised her training manual which she uses to do a trainer of trainer?s programmes for teachers in basic schools. She who also runs a school has for years been training teachers in towns and communities.
For their prize they both received a cheque for GHS60, 000 each as seed capital to invest into their Apps. They will also receive expert guidance and support to enable them further develop their projects. They also join the prestigious club of 13 other changemakers from who are making an impact across the length and breadth of Ghana.

Tigo and Reach for Change in November 2014 rebranded their social entrepreneurship programme, ?Tigo Changemakers? into ?Digital Changemakers? to attract people that were using technology to improve the lives of children in Ghana.

The competition attracted hundreds of interest from several people including young entrepreneurs across the country; a total of 785 signed up for the application process however, 482 were able to complete the entire online application process.

Chief Executive Officer for Tigo Ghana wished both winners well and stressed Tigo?s commitment to be the Digital service provider of choice for Ghanaians.
