The Zongo chief and the stolen sheep

The Zongo Chief of Akati, a suburb of nketepa in the Kwahu South District of the eastern region, Amadu Kunche, alias Osama, has found himself in police net for allegedly stealing sheep belonging to a neigbour.

His alleged accomplices, Peter Abochie and Sei Shalley, were said to be at large, while the chief has been fined by the Nketepa chief, Nana Obeng, an amount of GH?500.00 and four sheep.

An eyewitness, Akpatse, told DAILY GUIDE that for about two months, members of the community had been complaining about their missing items.

On Wednesday one neighbour, Vicent Apko, came to report to the community chief that his sheep had been stolen the night before.

The eyewitness said he hinted the Nketepa chief on Wednesday who set up a taskforce to lay ambush in the town and the other communities and try to bring the perpetrators of the crime to book.

According to him, the Zongo chief on Wednesday allegedly took the sheep to the Asesewa market for sale where upon a tip-off, the taskforce traced Osama to the market and caught him red-handed with the sheep.

The angry members of the taskforce brought the Zongo chief with the sheep to the Nketepa chief?s palace, where members of the community, including the owner of the sheep, gathered to catch a glimpse of the perpetrator of the crime.

Amadu Kunche, upon interrogations by the Nketepa chief, confessed the act, and was therefore accused of being behind the missing items in the area.

The Nketepa chief, who was utterly dismayed, fined the Zongo chief and ordered his men to send the suspect to the Mpraeso Police Station for interrogation.
