The Madina Divisional Police Command has arrested 33 suspected criminals who have been operating at midnight at Madina, Accra.

The suspects include three car snatchers, 28 gamblers and two prostitutes.

The suspects were apprehended at the Madina market, Jamaica, Nkulenu, among others.

The suspects, consisting of 25 males and 8 females, were arrested in a special operation that started from 1am to 4am last Monday.

They are being processed for court by the police.

Briefing the media in Accra, Chief Superintendent M. A Yakubu, the Madina Divisional Police Commander, said the special operation was carried out to rid the area of criminals.

On Sunday, September 28, 2014, the police, at a snap checkpoint, apprehended the three suspected car snatchers, who engaged the services of a taxi driver from Labadi to Madina.

Midway through the journey, the driver of the vehicle (name withheld) who realized that the suspects were criminals handed them over to the police.

Suspects, who have since been interrogated, would be sent to court for attempted robbery.

The 30 others were apprehended at a number of drinking spots noted to be a haven for criminals.

The police retrieved speakers, drinks and other items from the suspects.

Chief Superintendent Yakubu said the division has since invited victims of robbery attacks to come forward and identify the suspects before they are arraigned before court.
