Outgoing Member of Parliament for the Lower Manya Constituency, Michael Teye Nyaunu has sent strong signals to National Democratic Congress (NDC) of his availability for a position in the new John Mahama?s government.

According to him, his commitment and faithfulness plus his nationality, qualify him for a place in the Mahama-Amissah Arthur led administration.

Speaking on Eyewitness News on Wednesday, the former Deputy Speaker of ECOWAS Parliament said, ?I am not a foreigner. I am a Ghanaian and I worked for the NDC for all these years from its cradle; we started this when were the People?s Defense Committee, then we came to the Committee for the Defense of the Revolution, then I was a Branch Secretary, was Chairman, Constituency Chairman, and Member of Parliament for four consecutive terms under the NDC.?

?My first tenure was when Rawlings was in office, then the second one was His Excellency Kufuor, the third, Kufuor and the fourth was Atta Mills. Now I went as an independent, does it mean I never worked for the party or does it mean that I have not been a member of the party therefore if there is any significant position I should not be considered. That will not be a fair debate at all.?

In the opinion of Hon Teye Nyaunu, ?it is not only people who are in the party that should be considered for positions but the positions are considered for those who are Ghanaians.?

The Member of Parliament for the Lower Manya Constituency lost his bid to represent the Constituency in the sixth Parliament of the Fourth republic when he was defeated by the Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Ebenezer Okletey Terlarbi.

Mr Nyaunu, who contested the seat as an independent candidate, lost the NDC primaries to Mr Terlarbi polling 3,658 as against Mr Terlarbi?s 24,367 votes.

The NDC has given notice that if the MP looks to return as a member of the party, he would have to re-register.
