Alhassan Alias NDC Atta

A STAUNCH supporter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Techiman municipality, Mr. Alhassan alias ‘NDC Atta’ has in a surprise move, defected to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Announcing his defection to the media at Techiman, Mr. Alhassan said after following the NDC for so long, he has come to realize the party has nothing good to offer the youth in particular and Ghanaians in general.

According to him, the ruling party has been using the youth from Zongo areas to pursue their evil agenda then abandon them after they have achieved their aim.

He cited an instance during the recent biometric registration where the NDC leadership in the area hired Zongo youth to terrorize innocent people only to neglect them after the exercise.

He told the media his livelihood has not improved over the years even though he has been following the NDC from his youth.

In an exclusive interview with DAILY GUIDE, Mr. Alhassan said he has regretted the bad things he did to NPP supporters in the municipality and begged for forgiveness.

He noted that now that he has defected to the NPP, he has abandoned all his evil deeds and will rather concentrate on efforts to help Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia come to power to put things right.

To those accusing him of receiving money from some NPP gurus to betray the ruling party, Mr. Alhassan said if he wanted money he could have stayed in the NDC and lobbied for it because the NDC is in power.

He revealed that contracts which should have passed through the tender board are being sold to contractors saying this and many corrupt practices associated with the NDC had necessitated his defection.

Sounding furious, Alhassan told the paper that when he decided to defect, he was warned by friends that the NDC leadership in Techiman could hire thugs to harm him. “I ignored them because in this democratic dispensation one can join any political party of his choice,” he said.

Receiving Alhassan into the fold of the NPP, Techiman South NPP Communication Director, John Donyina thanked him for finally “seeing the light.”

He used the occasion to appeal to Zongo youth to follow the path of Alhassan and join the NPP so that their kinsman, Dr. Bawumia and Nana Akufo-Addo could come to power and improve their livelihood.
