The Regional Director of Education made the remarks when she and the Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Antwi-Boasiako Sekyere visited the school on Tuesday to observe the usual celebration of ?My First Day at School? and found the teachers and pupils cleaning the school.

According to Mrs Sackey-Addison, the cleaning should have been done the previous day to receive the new pupils to the school on the day of re-opening.
The school however admitted 20 pupils to Kindergarten one and 15 to class one.

Mrs Sackey-Addison urged teachers to do their best in teaching and mentoring the school children and warned that, she would be paying unannounced visits to the schools to see if the teachers were doing what was expected of them.

She pleaded with the teachers to make the school a home for the kids so that even when they were sick, they would still have the urge to be in school.

Mrs Sackey-Addison added that, although some of the areas they visited were in remote areas, the attendance was encouraging.

The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Sekyere later presented cups, exercise books, pencils and other items to the new students in each of the schools visited to keep the pupils motivated for the term.

The Regional Minister and his entourage later visited Osiem Methodist Basic School, Bunso M/A Basic School, Asamang Tamfoe D/A United Basic School.
The team also visited the Anyinam Presbyterian Primary School, Apesika M/A Basic School and the Abetensu Basic School both in the Kwahu West Municipality.
