The gesture (Chairman?s Award), was in recognition of Addo?s outstanding performance in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games and the Youth Olympics recently held in China.

Board chairman of the school, Frank Adu Junior, told newsmen that Addo, a Lower Six student of the Roman Ridge School, epitomizes the school?s core values, hence the support.

?The school?s primary focus is not on making profits. We believe in total education, that is beyond the academics. We strive to equip the students in other spheres of life.

?The student-teacher ratio is second to none. We believe this gesture will go a long way to support his single parent. All he has to do is to be present in class.

He is not the first recipient of the Chairman?s Award,? he added.

Addo, a 100m record holder of the school, thanked the institution for the gesture and indicated that it would urge him on to strive for excellence both in and out of the pool.

The recipient, who was in the company of his mother Nana Otua Owusuaa I, Akwaboa Hene of Akropong, promised to go the extra mile in future events.

Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) Joe Kpenge commended the school for the support saying, ?It has come at a time

that the Youth and Sports Ministry is calling on the private sector like this school to support sports in the country.?

President of the Ghana Swimming Association, Theophilus Edzi, Ibrahim Issah, Honourary Life President of the association and other officials were present at the presentation.
