The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) has condemned the gruesome murder of four students of Tai Solarin College of Education by some men of the Nigeria Police.

The students were allegedly killed during a protest at the College?s Omu-Ijebu Campus on Tuesday.

Speaking on behalf of the Coalition, its Executive Chairman, Debo Adeniran decried the high rate of inhuman treatment, brutality and extra-judicial killings of Nigerian people.

?The spate of extra-judicial killings in the country has called for urgent action from well-meaning Nigerians. It is an act of cruelty for the police, who are responsible for the protection of lives and properties, to open fire on defenceless students.

The murder of these students is highly condemnable and unpardonable. There is urgent need to put an end to all extra judicial killings of innocent Nigerians and curtail the excesses of the men of the Nigeria Police. The killers of these students must be brought to book in no distant time to serve as deterrent to other trigger-happy policemen,? Adeniran said.

Speaking further, the human rights activist commended the Ogun State House of Assembly for wading into the matter and called for immediate release of students still detained by the police.

?It is a good move that the Ogun State House of Assembly has waded into the situation, we however advocate that the case must not be swept under carpet like others; justice must be done and every student still detained by the police should be released immediately?.
