Stigmatization Put Women Away From Politics

A female Aspiring Member for the Newtown Electoral Area in Bawjiase, Ms. Angelina Aboagye has attributed the reduction of women in the participation of politics in the country to the stigmatization such as insults associated with the country?s body politics.

A product of the University of Education and a single parent of three children, Ms. Aboagye said the situation turns to kill the desire of women who wants to serve their country through politics.
She pointed out that as a single parent, she has suffered this stigmatization, but stressed that she is not perturbed by the situation in any way.

Speaking in an interview with The Moment on her ambition, Ms. Aboagye said she remains poised in pursuing her vision and even contest for the Member of Parliament in her constituency in the near future.

She however expressed optimism of winning the election come March 3 said as part of her effort to contribute her quota to development of her area and improving the life of the people in his area, she had graded some roads in the town which had become been inaccessible for some time now with the assistance of some benevolent organizations and individuals.

She stated that when given the nod, she will also work to ensure the provision of portable source of drinking water which she said has remained a major of concern of the people.
She also mentioned education as another major area of concern to her, and has promised work to do all she can to make it attractive to the teeming out-of-school children in the area who are roaming the streets.
She said as a result of this, she has formed an NGO-Angelina Foundation aimed at improving the life of women and children in the area.

She later mentioned MP Hawa Koomson, former Minister of State Christine Churcher and founder of the Countryside Orphanage and Welfare Home Mrs. Emma Boafo Yeboah as her role models whose life have inspired her carrier.
