Solomon Ohene, a Steel Bender who allegedly robbed one Regina Arhin of an unregistered Toyota Corolla Saloon car worth GHc 30,000.00 has been remanded by an Accra Circuit Court.

LAWSolomon has been charged for robbery but he pleaded not guilty to the charge.

He was remanded into police custody to reappear on November 13.

The prosecutor, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Patrick Morkeh told the court, presided over by Mr Francis Obiri that, the complainant, Hussein Abdulmigima Burhanu is a businessman living at Alajo, a suburb of Accra.

He said the complainant gave his unregistered Toyota Corolla car worth GHc 30,000.00 to one Samadu Alhassan, his cousin to sell, and he (Samadu) wrote and pasted his telephone number on the back wind screen of the car with a ?for sale? tag.

He said on September 10, at about 0500 hours, Samadu who lives in the same house with Regina, a witness in the case, gave the keys of the car to her and travelled outside Accra.

DSP Morkeh said at about 0800 hours the same day, Samadu called to tell Regina that someone he doesn?t know had called him to say that he wanted to buy the car and that he had directed the person to contact her.

He told the court that Samadu further added that, if the person wanted to test-drive the car, she should sit in it.

Not long after the call, the accused person came to Regina and presented himself as the person who wanted to buy the car.

He said Solomon requested to test-drive the car and the witness sat in the front seat with him. The accused drove on the main Ofankor-Sowutuom motor road and later branched onto a dusty road. He then turned the car to face the direction they had come from and stopped.

The prosecution told the court that, Solomon got down from the car and ordered the witness to come down, and when she did so, the accused quickly entered the car and drove towards her threatening to knock her down. Regina jumped off the road and the accused sped off leaving a trial of dust.

He said a report was made to the police by the witness, and during investigation, the accused person was arrested by the Regional crime investigators.

DSP Morkeh said an identification parade was conducted and the accused person was identified by the witness, but he however denied knowledge of the crime.
