The Tuobodom District Magistrate Court in the Techiman North District has issued a bench warrant for the arrest and prosecution of 200 employers who have defaulted in the payment of workers? contributions to the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) over a long period of time.

After several demands by SSNIT to the employers to honour their obligations, the Trust had no option than to drag them to court.

Speaking to DAILY GUIDE in an interview, the Techiman SSNIT Branch Manager, Anthony Cobbinah, said non-payment or delayed payment of SSNIT contributions denies SSNIT of investible funds for payment of benefits which is a serious offence under the National Pension Act 2008, Act 766.

He cautioned all employees, particularly Baba Razak Enterprise, Frangey Company LTD,  Golden Oil Seed Company Limited, Domston Enterprise, Jetab Company Limited, Rahma Micro Finance, Jobies Micro Finance and Jowalisa Company Limited to come forward and settle their debts since they cannot hide forever, adding, ?The law will soon expose you.?

Mr Cobbinah said, ?Although SSNIT is not happy to take employers to court but when an employer becomes recalcitrant and fails to pay workers contribution or fails to negotiate for manageable terms of payment to clear the arrears after the expiration of the period agreed between the parties, SSNIT will proceed to court.?

He warned employers not to take the SSNIT contributions of workers for granted.

Meanwhile, the SSNIT Branch Prosecutor has also issued a notice to all defaulting employers under the Techiman branch to fully pay up their SSNIT contributions in order to avoid any court action.
