General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie has challenged Tsastu Tsikata, counsel for the third respondent in the ongoing Presidential Election Petition to quit the ?delay tactics? if he believes John Mahama legitimately won the 2012 election.

According to him, it is fascinating, for someone who has been hyped and touted as a legal luminary prior to his cross-examination is now moving at the pace of a snail in court.

Sir John was reacting to a motion filed by Mr. Tsikata to cross-examine other witnesses of the petitioners who testified by affidavits.

Counsel for both the president and the Electoral Commission (EC) have also filed the same motion to ascertain the veracity of the testimony of the petitioners? witnesses.

But counsel for the petitioners say they are oppose to the motion and would contest it in court.

The Presiding Judge, Justice William Atuguba on Tuesday said the court will rule on the motion on May 16.

However, speaking on Asempa FM?s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie said the motion is part of a grand scheme to elongate the court case to enable President Mahama complete his four year term.

He said such feet dragging tactics expose the respondents? counsel as ?lazy lawyers? who lack the ability to put up a strong defense in court.

Sir John as he is popularly called accused Mr. Tsikata of spearheading what he described as a ?needless? application just to ?perpetuate an illegality?.

?Tsatsu?s repetitive questions are just to buy time for John Mahama. So far he has not been able to discredit the evidence before the court?.

In his opinion, John Mahama is a president by default because the EC rigged the election in favour of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Sir John called on members of the NDC to brace themselves for a gargantuan defeat in the eventual ruling on the case.
