The Dodowa District Police in the Eastern Region have detained a 22-year-old mother, Deborah Asiedu, for abandoning her eightmonth- old baby girl, Janet Amissah.

She was charged with putting the baby?s life in danger.

The District Commander, Superintendent Samuel Kwesi Ofori, gave indication that Deborah had gone to the baby?s father, Bowey Amissah, for some money to buy food for Janet.

Bowey, according to the police, refused the request by Deborah and angrily slapped her.

As a result, she left the eight-month-old baby with Bowey and went away. Bowey, on the other hand, laid the baby on the bare floor and left too.

He had packed his belongings from a room he was sharing with Deborah at Dodowa Matetse on August 13, 2014 for an unknown location.

At about 3:00 pm, two days after, Deborah was able to locate Bowey?s new place of abode where she asked him for some money to enable her feed the child.

Meanwhile, sensing danger, Deborah?s father, whom she had run to at Agomeda after leaving Bowey?s house, advised her to go for the baby.

But when she got to Dodowa Matetse, Janet had been taken to the police station for safe keeping.

Deborah, Superintendent Ofori disclosed, was arrested and subsequently detained behind the counter to enable her take care of
the child. The police are also looking for Bowey to help in investigation.
