Sammy Kuffour believes the combination of Marcel Desailly and Akwasi Appiah will be the ideal pair to take over the Black Stars coaching job.

The Ghana FA is head hunting for a new coach following the decision to part ways with Serbian Goran Stevanovic after failing to lead the team to Nations Cup glory in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

Desailly whose parents are Ghanaian but played and captained the French national team at international level has been touted by many as the ideal man for the job.

There have been reports of informal discussions leading to his appointment but nothing at this point has been confirmed.

But Kuffour who is an ex Ghana international says his choice will be Desailly assisted by Appiah who is currently in charge on interim basis.

“For me if there is a possibility, I think Desailly should be given the job and to be assisted by Akwasi Appiah,” he said on SuperSports Soccer Africa.

But co-panelist Mamadou Gaye insists it will be the worse decision ever to hand the job to a person who has no prior experience in coaching.

“Eh! Hand him (Desailly) the job to use Ghana for experiment?

“Now I believe Renard (Herve) when he says he will kick Ghana out of the World Cup qualifiers.”

The Ghana FA however says the appointment will be made within the next three weeks.
