Awal Mohammed feels the standard of the South African PSL is higher than that of Ghana

Black Stars defender Awal Mohammed feels the standard of the South African Premier Soccer League is streets ahead of the Ghana Premier League. 

The Ghanaian top-flight league is beginning to pick up its old competitiveness while the Ghana Football Association and the Premier League Board are shape up the professional standards.

Berekum Chelsea?s performance in the CAF Champions League two seasons ago has given a strong indication of the resurgence of the Ghana Premier League.

Most Ghanaian players have been turning their attention to the PSL because of its high professionals standards with Black Stars pair Rashid Sumaila and Awal Mohammed both plying their trades in there.

And defender Awal Mohammed who joined Maritzburg United from Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko feels the standard of the South African top-flight league beats that of the West Africans.

?The standard there is a high because of how things are done there and they buy some of our big players to play,? he told reporters after the Ghana-Turkey friendly.

The Ghana Football Association have been keen to introduce new policies to raise the standard of Ghana?s domestic game while clubs are also gearing towards professionalism.
