NRSC official speaking with some drivers in Tema

THE GREATER Accra National Road Safety Commission in collaboration with the Tema Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of the Ghana Police Service, have embarked on lorry stations campaign on road safety ahead of the Christmas holidays.

The exercise was to step up enforcement at lorry stations and on the roads in the Tema Metropolis to ensure that road regulations were observed.

Daniel Wuaku, the Greater Accra Regional NRSC Manager, educated commercial drivers about the essence of abiding by motor traffic regulations to avoid accidents during the Christmas period.

He advised drivers to be tolerant and exercise patience to avoid accidents on roads.

The NRSC Manager added that the yuletide would come with lot of pressure, but drivers should exercise extra caution when driving to prevent accident.

The Tema Regional MTTU Commander, Superintendent Oduro Amanning, for his part, admonished drivers to ensure the condition of their vehicles before setting off on the roads.

He appealed to transport union leaders to insist on high standards of discipline among their members to help reduce accidents.
